Welcome to Eat Sleep Ride: A Season of Growth and Impact
This year has been a season of growth, collaboration, and impactful change at Eat Sleep Ride CIC. Located in Lamberton, our solar-powered equine sanctuary has brought together community members, businesses, and young people to foster healing, learning, and sustainability.
Highlights of 2024:
- Building Accessible Spaces:
- With support from partners like FCC Landfill and Bruce Wake Foundation, we developed sensory gardens and off-grid event areas featuring raised beds, sensory equipment, and pond viewing areas. These spaces are wheelchair accessible and offer therapeutic and educational activities.
- Leadership Through Nature:
- Our equine-led corporate workshops introduced participants to herd dynamics, enhancing teamwork, trust, and communication. As one participant noted, “The activity with the horses was a game-changer.”
- Empowering Youth:
- Supported by the NatureScot Future Routes Fund, young people explored local biodiversity, identified endangered species, and designed a nature walk. They also earned SQA credits at the Big Ideas Weekend, sparking creativity and innovation.
- Sustainable Living:
- The installation of a new solar-powered inverter system enables us to host fully off-grid events, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Case Study – Iris’s Transformation:
Through fully-funded riding sessions, 10-year-old Iris, who lives with Autism and ADHD, found newfound confidence and independence. Her journey exemplifies the inclusive and supportive environment we strive to provide.
The Wisdom of Horses:
Our horses teach us empathy, patience, and the importance of connection. By observing their natural herd dynamics, we learn valuable lessons about leadership, community, and attunement to nature.
