On Sunday 13 September, six of us from Eat Sleep Ride laced up our boots and took on the Mighty Stride at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, a 21-mile route that started at Holyrood Park.
We were part of a huge day. Sir Chris Hoy and Lady Sarra Hoy joined Sir Tom Hunter to lead 8,000 fundraisers out in the sunshine, and the Edinburgh event raised £1.5 million for 762 charities. We set off with 3,200 other Mighty Striders, and 21 miles later we crossed the finish line with tired legs, sore feet and big smiles, knowing every step was for the herd.
We walked for our Changing Lives Together campaign. It's raising money for Beauty's operation, ten blocks of ABRS horse care and riding education, support for volunteers to stay on site, and ten subsidised Pony Day places for children during the school holidays.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored us, we've raised £2636 out of our £5000 campaign so far. All of it comes straight to Eat Sleep Ride. If you're a UK taxpayer and tick the Gift Aid box, your donation is worth up to 25% more.
A huge thank you to our walkers, to everyone who donated, and to everyone who cheered us on. Every mile was for the horses and the people they help.
Still time to give
The campaign is open until 30 September: Changing Lives Together - JustGiving
