Horses, Home & Heritage: A Day of Connection

Refugee Festival Scotland 2025 – Horses, Home & Heritage at Eat Sleep Ride
On Saturday 21st June 2025, we proudly hosted Horses, Home & Heritage as part of Refugee Festival Scotland, offering a day of connection, celebration, and healing at our solar-powered farm in Lamberton, Berwickshire.
The event brought together guests from Yemen, Syria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Lithuania, and the local Scottish Borders community. Participants enjoyed:
-
Horse grooming and short rides
-
Sensory garden, crafts, henna, and a paddling pool
-
A BBQ with halal and vegetarian food
-
Firepit chats and fresh garden produce to take home
The experience created space for inclusion, cultural exchange, and mental wellbeing, with many guests expressing deep gratitude for the warm welcome and peaceful environment.
We also learned from our guests — sharing traditional foods like Mandi and Injera, and listening to personal stories that highlighted the need for more accessible and inclusive spaces.
This event was part of our wider mission to build community through nature, horses, and shared leadership — and we look forward to hosting more cultural days in future.
