Herd Dynamics, our equine-assisted leadership programme, has won £30,000 in Firstport’s Social Innovation Challenge 2026. The winner was announced at the Social Enterprise Scotland Awards on 29 October.
Herd Dynamics grew out of our work at Eat Sleep Ride. Teams come to Quarry Farm to learn about leadership, trust and communication from our horses, and young people from Eat Sleep Ride take part alongside them. Professionals and young people learn from each other, and the young people build skills, confidence and paid experience along the way. Every booking helps fund our charity’s work.
Horses make brilliant leadership teachers because they respond to who you really are, not who you pretend to be.
Firstport’s Chief Executive, Gael Drummond, described our work as “a powerful example of social innovation in action.”
This win has special meaning for us. In 2017, Firstport gave Eat Sleep Ride £4,000 to get started. Without it, there would be no Quarry Farm. Coming back to win their Social Innovation Challenge feels like coming full circle.
Thank you to Firstport and to everyone who has backed us along the way.
